Welcome to Slow Burn: Deadly Tales from the Sonoran Desert - where ghost stories ride shotgun, cold cases rattle like bones in the trunk, and the Arizona sun never quite burns away what's hiding in the shadows.

I'm Jess - aspiring writer, night owl, and recovering people-pleaser with a deep love for true crime, dusty trails, unsolved mysteries, and stories that stick to your ribs. I created Slow Burn because I've been fortunate enough to grow up int his dusty corner of the world - where nearly everywhere you look you'll see something steeped in either history or mystery - or both. This is a place where resources are scarce, and things go missing: water, people, time. If you're not paying attention, the desert will swallow you whole.

Here you'll find:

  • True crime that hasn't gotten its justice
  • Paranormal lore that still lingers in roadside motels and canyon winds
  • Missing persons and cold cases that deserve a second look
  • And Quiet obsessions - the ones we don't talk about but can't stop Googling at 2 a.m.

This isn't about gore or shock value. It's about storytelling with respect - honoring victims, digging into the unresolved, and walking that thin line between curiousity and reverence. I want this to feel like a late-night drive through the desert with someone who just gets it. Just you, me, and the stories we can't stop telling.

This blog isn't about the sensational headlines or the quick hits. It's about taking the time to really dig in - peeling back the layers of unsolved mysteries, strange happenings, and true crime tales that linger long after the desert sun sets.

Whether you're a local orjust curious about what lurks behind all the cacti and dust, you're in the right place. We'll explore cold cases, urban legends, paranormal whispers, and the messy, complicated human stories tangled in it all.

This isn't a space for judgements or cliches - just honest, raw storytelling with a side of dry humor and a lot of heart.

So grab your favorite drink, settle in, and join me as we walk the dusty trails and uncover deadly tales - together.
